DIY: Green Tea Bath Bombs

I absolutely love bath bomb! They are fun to watch, they can add color or aromatherapy to your bath, can be a herbal homeopathic treatment, and they even add oils to moisturize your skin during your relaxing bubble bathes. The best part you can either buy these little treatments or you can make them yourself with just some ingredients you may already have on hand.

I recently made a batch using used green tea leaves and some leftover ingredients i had from a previous batch. The green tea from this recipe helps to detox your skin from any impurities and the coconut oil is a natural way to add some moisture to your skin. This recipe also doesn't call for any artificial coloring dyes or essential oils, but you can add them if you desire.

You will need:
1 1/4 cup baking soda
1/2 cup citric acid ( you can find this with canning supplies at the store)
2 Tbs green tea leaves ( I recycled some used tea bags)
2 Tbs Coconut oil, (virgin olive oil, baby oil, or any other bath oil you may have)
1/2 Tbs hot water for fresh tea leaves
(optional) 2-4 drops of your coloring dye or essential oils

Instructions:

If you are using fresh tea leaves add 1/2 Tbs of hot water to revive your tea leaves. If you are using USED tea make sure they are damp.

Combine all of your dry ingredients and your tea leaves in a medium bowl and mix well

Add your oil component and stir until your mixture crumbles similar to when you make a pie crust. If you need, you can add more oil or water but make sure it doesn't stick together. You can also add your dyes and essential oils at this time.

To create your bath bomb shape you can use molds, plastic eggs, or cupcake tins. I personally find it easier to get the compacted shape just by using my hands to make a "snowball" like bath bomb.

Once you have your desired shapes formed, you will need to place them on a flat surface. You may need to line your surface with wax paper. Your bath bombs will need to set out to air dry for at least 24 hours so they will fizz properly.

Once they are dry you can gift wrap these to share with friends or store them in a cute container for your next relaxing bubble bath! :)

The green tea with add a hint of color to the fizz :)
